Why use it?

Eating vegan

Living a vegan life is "a way of living which seeks to exclude (as far as possible and practicable) all forms of exploitation and cruelty to animals for food, clothing, and other purposes". This definition comes from the British Vegan Society, which in its day coined the term ‘vegan’. All vegans live plant-based and seek as far as possible, in addition to meat, poultry, fish, shellfish, and by-products from slaughter, to avoid animal products such as milk, eggs, cheese, leather, fur, wool, honey, products tested on animals, etc. All vegans are by definition also vegetarians.

Why vegan?
There are many good reasons to live vegan. Most people highlight ethics, sustainability, environment, and health as the main reasons why they have chosen a vegan lifestyle. As a vegan, one often has the view that all living creatures have the right to a life of freedom. Concretely avoiding animal products is one of the most obvious ways in which you can act on this point of view and thereby take an active stand against animal exploitation. For many people, living vegan is part of an overall lifestyle, where several reasons are part of a larger whole.
